Parks, natural areas and marinas within driving distance

Cumberland Mountain
State Park. Cumberland Mountain State
Park provides a number of recreational activities
including hiking, swimming, picnicking and golfing.
Fall Creek Falls State
Park. Tennessee’s largest and most
visited state park is situated on over 26,000 acres. Fall
Creek Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in the
eastern United States at 256 ft. Other waterfalls located
in the park include Piney Falls, Cane Creek Falls and Cane
Creek Cascades.
Savage Gulf State
Natural Area. Sandstone cliffs,
gorges, rugged canyons and waterfalls provide
extraordinary views.
Ozone Falls State
Natural Area. Ozone Falls plunges 110
ft into a picturesque blue pool. A natural amphitheater
has been created behind the falls by wind, water and time.
Due to the natural beauty of the falls, it was selected
for filming the movie “Jungle Book”.
Catoosa Wildlife
Management Area. Spanning 82,000
acres, Catoosa Wildlife Area offers hunting, fishing,
hiking and whitewater rafting.
Burgess Falls State
Park. Noted for its four waterfalls
that cascade down the Falling Water River from over 250 ft
in elevation. The final falls plunges more than 130 ft
into a gorge below.
Virgin Falls State
Natural Area. Formed by an underground
stream that emerges from a cave, Virgin Falls drops over
110 ft high cliff before disappearing into another cave at
the bottom. Area also features other waterfalls including
Big Laurel, Sheep Cave Falls and Big Branch Falls.
Cummins Falls State
Park. Listed as one of the top 10
swimming holes in America by Travel and Leisure and Conde
Naste magazines.
Rock Island.
The area includes the Caney Fork River Gorge with scenic
overlooks, waterfalls, deep pools and hiking paths.
Activities include swimming, fishing, kayaking and
exploring.
Sgt. Alvin C. York
State Historic Park. This park
includes the home, general store and grist mill of World
War I hero, Sgt. Alvin C. York, one of America’s most
decorated soldiers. Hike the trail from his home and cross
the Wolf River via a suspension bridge to his burial site.
Dale Hollow Lake Marina.
Dale Hollow Lake provides fishing, boating, water-skiing,
kayaking and hiking.
